1. Keep your watch clean with a soft dry cloth.
3. Ensure that the crown, which is used to change the hands/date, is properly pushed in and/or screwed at all times. This prevents penetration by water or dust.
4. Avoid abrasions as scratching may eventually affect the case and bracelet.
5. If you are about to undertake heavy physical work, remove your watch.
6. If your watch has a leather strap do not wear it too tightly fastened or expose it to water, unless the strap is water resistant.
7. Avoid subjecting your watch to rapid changes in temperature.
8. When not being worn, keep your watch in a cool dry place.
BATHING IN THE SEA
After bathing in salt water, rinse the watch with clean tap water.
Protect the watch against any shocks and strong sun and light.
Push it back into the neutral position to prevent water from penetrating into the mechanism.
For water-resistant cases, use a toothbrush with soapy water and a soft cloth for drying.
Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, cosmetic products etc., since they may damage the glass, the case or the gaskets.
Avoid extreme temperatures above 60°C or below 0°C, and extreme temperature changes.
A watch’s water resistance cannot be permanently guaranteed. It may be affected by the ageing of gaskets or by an accidental shock to one of the components assuring the water resistance such as the crown or the watch glass. As stipulated in our service instructions, we recommend you have the water resistance of your watch checked once a year by an approved IW&F Service Center.
Special care extends the condition of the strap:
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent the colour from fading.
Remember that leather is permeable! Therefore avoid contact with greasy substances and cosmetic products. It is not advisable to clean your strap with leather cleaners.

HOW WATER-RESISTANT IS MY WATCH?
The water resistance of your watch is written on the case back of your timepiece and expressed in ATM. Please note this measure does not coincide with research paper writer theessayclub an actual depth to which you can immerse your watch, but is a correspondence to the measure unit usually used in watchmaking: atmosphere (ATM).

CAN I SHOWER WITH MY WATCH?
Showering, bathing and diving are possible but are not recommended, especially if your watch has a leather strap. It is also not recommended to swim with your watch especially at the beach and in climates with important temperature changes. Do not wear your watch when in steam bath or sauna.
Why aren’t all watches available to order immediately from the IW&F store?
Sometimes it is unfortunately the case that you may have to wait for your desired model to become available again. The long delivery times are due to the very high demand for certain models. New models in particular are sometimes in short supply. We always try to match production to demand, but as a watchmaking company that creates the majority of parts by hand, we can only produce a certain amount of watches at a time. IW&F timepieces cannot be produced in much larger quantities overnight—quality craftsmanship simply takes time. When you have seen the finished product, you will understand what we mean. And perhaps this anticipation makes waiting just a little bit sweeter.
HOW ARE IW&F WATCHES TESTED?
Before they leave IW&F offices, all watches are thoroughly turned on their head—and that’s not all: IW&F also run a water test for every watch who leave the factory.
CAN I SWIM OR SHOWER WITH MY WATCH?
If your IW&F watch has the addition “3 ATM” means that you can shower with your watch on. Please consider that watches generally prefer to stay dry. A rain shower will not cause them any problems, but you should take them off before a dip in the pool. It is recommended to have the water resistance of your watch checked once a year by a retailer. It only takes a moment.
HOW, HOW OFTEN AND WHEN SHOULD I WIND MY WATCH?
IW&F watches are automatic, then you don’t have to do much at all: Generally, a self-winding watch should be able to gain all the energy it needs through the motion of your arm. The spring in the self-winding mechanism will tighten regardless of how you move. Once your watch is fully wound, it will run for about 40 hours, in other words, for around two days without needing to be rewound or worn.
HOW DO I SET THE DATE ON MY WATCH?
Changing the date on a IW&F watch is quick and easy: Just pull the crown out one click and turn the hands forwards until the date changes, then push the crown back in the normal position. Everything is also described in detail in the small guarantee book you received with your watch.
WILL I RECEIVE AN EMAIL WHEN MY WATCH IS REGISTERED?
You can safely assume that your registration has reached us. We do not currently confirm its receipt simply because we get a great deal of post on a daily basis from our customers.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY WATCH DOESN’T WORK?
All IW&F watches have been consecutively numbered. This serial number can be registered under the purchaser’s name if they so desire. You can register your watch with us on our website. After the warranty has expired, we at IW&F will try to help out our customers as rapidly, obligingly and inexpensively as possible. We are always eager to serve our customers in word and deed.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A WATCH?
It’s rather difficult to say. When new models are developed, it can take up to one entire year from the first idea until the watch is ready. Current models go through different production stages, their parts are produced individually, assembled adjusted, tested multiple times. All this takes and needs a lot of time. And the watch is only allowed to leave us when we are sure that everything works perfectly.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN PRE-ORDER MY WATCH?
We give the opportunity to pre-order your watch at a special price. When you pre-order a watch, you have access to a discount of 40% and it means that your watch is in production while you are purchasing. The maximum waiting time is 12 weeks.
IS POSSIBLE TO BUY A WATCH THAT IS OUT OF STOCK?
We carry the entire collection, but it’s possible that the watch you like is out of stock. Occasionally a watch is not available for a short period of time but you will have the option to pre-order your watch at a special price. You will also find further beautiful things in the IWF Store, such as straps, travel bags, wood box and other special items from IW&F.
HOW LONG IS THE WARRANTY?
Your watch comes with a warranty of two years from the date of purchase, during which time we will rectify all defects that are not the result of damage free-of-charge, as a matter of course.
CAN I CUSTOMIZE MY WATCH?
As we aim to keep our collection as compact as possible, we are only able to offer a limited range of customizations. These include changes to the dials or similar.
Can a laser engraving be carried out on the back of a watch?
No we can’t but we can hand painted your message on it! Just get in touch if you would like a quote. But please bear in mind that customization lengthen the delivery time for a watch by at least two weeks. It also voids the right to return.
I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER A DIFFERENT STRAP?
Sure, no problem. Just let us know which strap you would like in the comments field during your order. An extra charge will only occur if you require a leather strap for a watch.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SHIP MY WATCH?
If the ordered item is in stock, then everything will proceed very quickly. Within two to four days, your order will be ready to ship and on the way to you. We use fast shipping couriers.

HOW CAN I CONFIRM THE AUTHENTICITY OF MY WATCH?
A thorough examination by one of our specialist watchmakers in Schaffhausen can either confirm or refute the authenticity of your watch by examining every detail. The manufacturer may present you with a certificate of authenticity.
WHAT IS A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY?
The information on the certificate mainly relates to the reference, case and movement. The certificate may also include information about other special features. IW&F reserves the right refuse to issue a certificate for any watch, if a close examination reveals that parts of the watch are not genuine.
HOW DO I OBTAIN A CERTIFICATE AND WHAT ARE THE EXPENSES?
You may submit your watch to an authorized IWC retailer or boutique, who will send it to Schaffhausen. Alternatively, you may contact the concierge for instructions to send your watch directly to the service center, who can send it to the manufacturer. A fee of 300 CHF covers the service.
